Who owns Kgori Capital?

Kgori Capital is 100% Botswana citizen owned. It is wholly owned and controlled by management and staff and operates as an independent firm.
We are proud to be one of very few citizen owned asset management firms in Botswana.

What unit trusts does Kgori Capital offer?

Kgori Capital has 2 main unit trust offerings; the Kgori Capital Enhanced Cash Fund and the Kgori Capital Global Balanced Fund.

Kgori Capital Enhanced Cash Fund
The Fund invests exclusively in money market securities such as fixed deposits, bonds and commercial papers. It is a low-risk fund suitable for investors seeking capital preservation but also want to earn a return that is higher than traditional fixed deposits. The Enhanced Cash Fund is invested 100% locally (Botswana).

Kgori Capital Global Balanced Fund
The Fund is a multi-asset strategy and invests in domestic and global liquid asset classes including equities, fixed income, currency, alternatives, and commodities. It is a moderate risk fund, suitable for investors seeking higher returns in the long term (more than 3 years).

How can I make deposits and withdrawals?

Deposits and withdrawals can be made through our Secure-Services Portal, which has an easy to use “transact-online” feature that allows existing investors to contribute to or withdraw from their Kgori Capital investment account.

Alternatively, you may fill in an additional investment form or redemption form to make deposits and withdrawals respectively.

Do I pay tax on a unit trust?

Any gains made from a unit trust are taxed. Kgori Capital will pay any withholding taxes due on your behalf and issue you with a tax certificate at tax filing time. The amounts paid for withholding taxes will be reflected on your transaction notes, which are sent to you whenever any transactions occur within your investment account.

How is Kgori Capital Governed?

The Board of Directors is responsible for Governance within the company and therefore provides direction on the ideal governance framework the organisation should adhere to.

The governance framework is based on the organisation’s current strategic direction, the risk environment, the regulatory environment, internal controls and international best practice.

The organisation currently benchmarks with King Code III in line with regulation from both the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) as well as the Botswana Accountancy Oversight Authority.

Kgori Capital is licensed and regulated by the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (“NBFIRA”) as an asset manager.

What is a unit trust and can I invest in a unit trust?

A unit trust is a collective investment scheme in which money is pooled from different investors, and subsequently invested in a wide range of financial assets.

The investment decisions in a unit trust are undertaken by professional investment managers, who invest in underlying assets based on the mandate of the particular unit trust and their investment philosophy and guidelines.

As a unit trust investor in a Kgori Capital unit trust, how often do I get statements?

Statements are sent out at the end of every month, within the first 5 days of the new month. These are sent out via email or post depending on the investor’s preference.

How can I compare Kgori Capital’s performance with other asset managers in Botswana?

An investor can view the latest statements of each asset manager and compare the performance figures of similar funds.

While performance is a good measure, it is also important to consider factors such as the client service reputation of asset managers.

When can I make withdrawals?

Withdrawals can be made at any time as Kgori Capital unit trusts do not have any lock-in periods or charges/penalties for withdrawing. Redemptions (withdrawals) will be processed within 48hours of receipt of an instruction
